Even Superman Needs a Break Sometimes

My sometimes ornery, rambunctious, sneaky little guy has been melting my heart these past few days.

The other night he was saying his prayer before bed and said, "Thank you for Santa for giving us presents, and thank you for God for giving us hearts...".

He has become my lunch buddy on the days both girls are in school. I had been craving Chipotle all weekend and since the girls would rather eat dirt from the garden than Chipotle, I saw my window of opportunity to get it with just Tate. He scarfed down 2 chicken tacos and wrapped his 3rd one up to take home.

My next craving this week (don't get any silly ideas people) was Mr. GoodCents. So that's where he and I headed yesterday. The kids meal there comes with a cookie. A giant cookie about as big around as my hand. What 3 year old wouldn't love to dive into that?

But Tate pulled it right out of the wrapper and automatically started breaking it up into pieces.

"I'm going to save this one for Reesie, and this one for Druebie, and this one for Daddy, and here's your piece Mom...".

I kept making comments about how well he was using his manners yesterday. So he went all out after that. And said "Please" and "Thank you" for everything. "Thank you for telling me it was time to get out of the bath Mom".

We pretty much phased out his naptime over the holidays. There was just so much going on during that time, places to be, people to see, that he missed his nap for about 4 days in a row. We are still in a little bit of an adjustment period with that. But for the most part, it is kind of liberating. And he goes to bed like a champ at night.

Last night, he did fall asleep in the van on the way home from dropping the girls off at church around 6:00pm. I placed him on the couch thinking he'd wake up in a few minutes. When he didn't, I went ahead and removed his shoes and coat and tucked him in. When the girls came home, I tried to rouse him to eat supper. No response.

All through American Idol he slumbered peacefully. I eventually moved him up to our bed around 8:45 which was where he slept soundly the rest of the night.

Next week I enroll him in Pre K which will begin in the Fall. I'm sure going to miss my little Superhero...
